Animal Encounters: The Wildlife of North Carolina's Outer Banks

Back to Program List

Come and experience firsthand the unspoiled beauty of North Carolina's Outer Banks. Rather than just learning about the amazing creatures that inhabit our coastal environment, you'll enjoy face-to-face encounters with live sea turtles, alligators, snakes, birds, fish and marine invertebrates. You'll discover the dynamic intensity of North Carolina's pristine beaches as you learn the finer points of bird identification during an expert's tour of our 62-acre reserve. You can also choose either to get down and dirty and explore Bogue Sound at ground level, or to take the casual approach, enjoying the serene salt marsh landscape from the wooden boardwalk. Either way, you'll enjoy a hands-on study of the animals in this fragile wetland ecosystem
