 Trinity Center's Life Stories Workshop
Relax and experience healing ways in an idyllic Barrier Island setting.
Come and experience healing and even boost your immune system.
Learn to identify stressors in your life and discover creative strategies to diffuse anxiety and worry. |
This workshop titled "Moving through your Life Stories with Writing and Gentle Yoga" is designed to introduce people to the healing powers of reliving and recording their memories. Research shows that people experience healing and even boost their immune systems when they connect memories with emotions through writing.
This workshop incorporates this form of healing with relaxation techniques, poetry, painting and gentle yoga, and is designed for everyone, so there is no need to have prior experience in any of these techniques. Participants will learn to identify stressors in their lives and discover creative strategies to diffuse anxiety and worry.
This non-denominational three-day/2-night
program will be presented by Julia Wilkerson Burns, M.D. Julia is a practicing psychiatrist, a poet, a painter, and is an active member of Saint Francis by the Sea, a church of the Episcopal Diocese of East Carolina.
Relax and Retreat
Trinity Center has been a place for people to come for refreshment and retreat since its doors first opened in 1986. The maritime paths, the benches by the lagoon, the porch rockers all invite guests to sit, relax, and enjoy the stillness.
The beautiful surroundings and quiet atmosphere at Trinity offers an excellent place for prayer, meditation and reflection, where one may be joined by stalking egrets, and soaring herons, who offer companionship in the stillness of the salt marsh, maritime forest and beach.
Occasionally, the silence may be broken by the loud squawk of the laughing gulls in the adjacent waters, but this disturbance is a gentle one, placing one in the natural order of things as participant.
